People usually assume that I’ve always been interested in the beauty industry. False. When I first began my beauty and self-care journey over thirteen years ago, I was just like you. I was unsure and intimidated by the endless options available for creating a beauty routine. Applying simple daily makeup took SUCH a long time because I didn’t have much experience. 

 

I was definitely a “late bloomer” when it came to being girly or feeling allowed to be the girl who was into all things beauty. I was attracted to eyelash extensions immediately. They were an advanced solution to feeling fresh and put together with minimal daily effort. AT LAST: a solution for the beauty industry newbie. It also became my inspiration for creating Infinity Beauty Bar in Snohomish, Washington – 13 years ago. My advice below is based on my experience with hundreds of eyelash extension clients.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

While some eyelash extensions last for up to four weeks before needing a refill, I would say they last three weeks on average. Your natural eyelashes shed on their own every six weeks which directly contributes to needing refills. There are also multiple factors to consider when asking how long eyelash extensions last:

– Quality of at-home care 

– How oily your hair is 

– How oily your skin is

– How much makeup you wear 

– If you clean them daily or not 

Are eyelash extensions worth it?

Eyelash extensions are worth it if you want to save time with your beauty routine. It is important to note that eyelash extensions require extra care and maintenance appointments. If incorporating that into your routine doesn’t feel manageable, it might not be for you. Here are five great benefits to having eyelash extensions:

– Feeling put together with minimal effort 

– No mascara needed 

– No damage to natural lashes 

– Enhanced look on almost everyone!

– Customizable: choose how natural vs. dramatic you want them to look!

Do eyelash extensions ruin your lashes?

Short answer: no. When damage occurs to the natural lashes it is due to improper application, poor at-home care, or applying eyelash extensions that are too heavy for the natural lash. There are many factors that should be considered when persevering your natural lashes:

– Avoid rubbing or touching eyes. This irritates the eyelash extensions, causing them to fall out.

– Don’t use oil-based cleansers.

– Avoid water or getting them wet in the first 48 hours.

– Avoid sleeping on them and try sleeping on your side or back. 

Can you put mascara on eyelash extensions?

Technically you can, but I highly recommend against it. Applying mascara to your eyelash extensions closes the volume fans we are so skilled at making. Clumping your lashes makes it hard to clean and breaks the retention of the glue down much faster. 

How much do eyelash extensions cost?

Your initial eyelash appointment will cost anywhere from $100 – $500. At Infinity Beauty Bar in Snohomish, Washington, our prices for an initial set depend on what type of lashes you choose.

Diva Full Set: $175 | 60 minute appointment

Luscious Lash Full Set: $225 | 90 minute appointment

Drama Queen Full Set: $275 | 2 hour appointment

Lux Lash Full Set: $350 | 3 hour appointment

Every Service Provider is Unique

Every service provider will have a unique menu of eyelash extension options and pricing. I would avoid salons that offer pricing below $100 for the initial set. That would lead me to question the experience of their technicians and the quality of the lashes that they are using. Trust me, I’m all about a bargain or snagging a good deal. Eyelash extension pricing should not be either of those. These are your eyes, people! This is a beauty service that requires certification to ensure proper application not only for looks but also for your safety. Take your time when seeking a professional eyelash technician.
